Van Ness Near Bay 1906

1906 Earthquake, 3000 block of Van Ness Avenue near Bay Street. Eggs being distributed to a crowd by US Navy Sailors. All of these buildings had to be demolished or moved to make way for the PPIE. The apartment building at far right was moved to 1515 Greenwich St, and still stands. At extreme left, barely visible, is a house that was moved to 1232-1234 Chestnut; it also still stands.
